December – a time for festive holiday spirit, yummy food, gift giving and receiving, warm sweaters and hot chocolate, and yes, quite a bit of holiday stress and anxiety.  But in the Corporate Services world, December means something a little different – lots of end-of-year dissolutions, cancellations, and withdrawals, as well as the start of Delaware tax filing time for corporations.  As a result, good cheer can be less on our staff members’ minds as they work hard to assist our clients with their end-of-year needs.

To ensure our staff members know they’re appreciated and to make coming to work a little more fun, Incserv management and the EAC run festive events throughout the month of December.  Special care is taken to ensure not too much time is taken away from their daily tasks, which can be consuming this time of year, as many staff members find it hard to get away from their desks even for a few minutes many days and may instead forgo festive activities due to time constraints.

Early in the month, the EAC hosted a get-together at Fraizer’s for everyone to hang out, eat some good food, and have a drink provided by the EAC.  Quite a few staff members and their spouses or friends stopped by to enjoy good company outside of the often-hectic work environment.

Next, Incserv hosted the annual Christmas party in-house where everyone enjoyed an amazing spread catered by Piazza Mia.  The office was closed for 2 hours (to coincide with when the State shut down for their own holiday party) to allow staff time to enjoy lunch, play some games, win some prizes, and unwrap their Secret Santa gifts.  The EAC also hosted an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest, so everyone was in their holiday best (or worst, depending upon your perspective!)

We spent the following week playing games and winning prizes with one activity and big prize per day.  Incserv staff guessed the amount of candy in a jar, searched under their chairs for winning numbers, picked gold ornaments off a paper tree, pulled candy canes from a stocking, and hoped their name would be called in a raffle for prizes such as a Smart TV, a DNA kit, a telescope, an Echo Show, and a Ring doorbell.  When someone would win, you’d hear the exclamations clear on the other side of the building!

The EAC also held their Stocking Decorating Contest that Friday.  Everyone received a red and white stocking a month prior with the instructions to decorate their stocking however they wished.  Quite a few staff participated, with 16 stockings being hung by their workstations with care.  When staff came in Friday, they found Santa had paid Incserv a visit – everyone had a small, individual gift in or near their stocking!

Staff also enjoyed having a few days off to enjoy time with their families this holiday season. Our warmest wishes for a happy holiday season!
